Yesterday and Today

Hi all I've been busy and I want to share. This is a post of pictures and a few words.

all scraps from a quilting friend who is destashing

15 min play made fabric from someone else's scraps colors outside my range.

the plaid roses is a scrap of fabric Victoria aka Bumble Beans   invited people to share and play with her. I didn't say "pick me pick me"(donkey).  But when the universe gives you scraps for made fabric , challenging fabric and more roses

I packed away after an hour of playing with this.

next the strips  more play

packed these away for another day

Shush don't tell Secret sewing for Christmas.

Also made a quilt back for Aussie Heroes Quilts..

That was yesterday and now TODAY

an experiment that lacked something.

until today thanks to Victoria's new book 15 min. play (check my side bar) page 42 I think.

two possible backgrounds  still thinking about the next step.

What did you do today? i hope you had some time for yourself.

Busy weekend coming up so you all have a great one too Terry

Whats Black and White and Red all over?

My garden and my quilting

Red flowers are the color of my blooms in the new house.

The charming garden sculpture (water meter) is in the middle of the front yard. A huge bed of bright red petunias adds color to an ugly.

The kangaroo paws are beginning to send up shoots and the gardenia hedge will soon be in full bloom. Guess mother nature is taking a hand in my outdoor decorations for Christmas.

Magpie progress

love the negative version of Australian flora and fauna black and white are very strong.

The great black spot fabric i found on SALE. The trial layout for placement of stripes. The quilts for Aussie Hero Quilts are 2'' longer and wider than my kitchen table so i have an easy place to layout and audition these quilts.

Top awaiting quilting and accompanying laundry bag. Guess what I'll be doing this weekend.

Enjoy your weekend where ever you are  Terry

A night on the town

Wayne and I went to town

La Mint is a long time favorite of ours.  Great green paw paw salad!!

The occasion was the 2012 release of the Beaujolais Nouveau. A very drinkable wine and a great meal.

Suprises in the mail box. A few weeks ago I won a give away at Queen of the Armchair's. The mail was very slow but it did arrive.

Great quilt wrapping paper. Can you see the houses among the stars?

Inside patterns for some cute stitchery and a wonderful fat quarter. I can think of lots of projects coming up I just need to find the time.

On the sewing front my first design for machine applique.

It took some tweaking but I'm proud of myself. DH got in on the act by suggesting a longer beak and flat head. The magpie is an essential part of my next Aussie Heroes Quilt. The recipient is a AFL fan of Collingwood who's mascot is _______ you guessed a magpie.

Back to stitching Terry

added some 2 1/2" strips and a very Australiana quilt is taking shape.

framed the map of Australia with blue to keep the image clear. the strips were stitched together using the chip quilt process

Vintage Australiana

weekend

Busy wearing lots of different hats. The Terry that's me is always there but I realise I'm different things to those I love.

Grama ? I sure am and love it.  Friday was Grandparent day at school so I braved the morning rush and went to school. Saturday DH and I ventured out to attend Panorama  steel band competition.

Awen with a  big smile getting ready to play Land Down Under. She has been playing for four years and loves it.

..Cadel's first year and first performance. Played well and then we all went out for dinner at his request. Ginger beer treat and all.

Sunday bright and early I was wearing the quilting hat.

finished.

I will make a laundry bag to send with the quilt. I enjoyed making this quilt. It gave me time to remember my father a sailor and duck hunter the connections we all have with the quilts we make.

Have a good week   Terry
