Still Stitching

on the swap

I have been

Cutting lots of strips

Stitching strips in 3s

Cutting all these scraps together. Some of this fabric is from dressmaking for 2 girls. Other bits are my quilting scraps. I never discard anything. The third catagory is gifted from other quilters or just foraged from bins at class and anywhere quilters gather.

I am a scrap quilter from way back. My first memory of a quilt is from nap time. My mother and I lived with my Grandmother for most of 1951 while my father was aboard ship in Korea. I remember tracing multi colored triangles. Lots and lots of different triangles. The quilt had disappeared before I knew to inquire about it. All that's left is my memory and love of scraps.

I am facinated by the memories my quilts trigger.  Quilts are a record of my journey through  adulthood.

It has been interesting so far . May it contiue for a long time to come.

I love hearing your memories of scraps, and indeed scraps are made of memories. I hope your triangle quilt is still somewhere being used. My introduction to patchwork was my grandmother sewing together bits of old clothes. I love the look of your scrappy swap strips, a wonderful mix of all sorts.
